Mr.Tire $19 tires...sounds too good to be true?

I just saw a sign on the side of a local Mr.Tire here in Reisterstown,MD. It said $19 tires....but it didn't mention specifically but I was hoping someone here would know or works/worked for them that could fill me in on what that is all about. I tried searching online but they mentioned $19 tires...just nothing more than that. Thanks in advance!|||P155/80R13 79S no-name Chinese imports, being sold below cost as a loss-leader to put on the sign. Great if you own a 15 year-old Tercel or Metro and don't care what your tires are like so long as they are black, round and hold air. Installation is extra of course. |||its a gimmick to get you in the one that is at that price is like a for a ugo|||usually when you see tires cheap like that, they have already been used and some of the tread is wore down, but generally they are pretty good tires. |||Probably means the smallest and cheapest tire they carry. Larger sizes will cost more.|||Tire----$19.99

Mount and balance------$7.50

Valve stem------$3.00

Wash green off tire------$2.00

Shop supplies fee-------$4.00

EPA tire disposal fee---$2.00

and don't forget sales tax!

Tread wear guarantee 2 blocks!

Maybe not quite that bad, but get a final price before you decide! These are "LEADERS" items meant to draw you in to the store so you will buy the higher price tires. Like the swimming pool salesman who came to my house and said "Now the $299.00 pool is not the one in the advertisement, that one is $3000.00!)

I have run the cheapo tires without problems before. They really don't last long, or ride very well, but they are safe. In my younger days, re-treads was all I would buy, usually 1 tire at a time!

If you are in need of decent tires cheaply, try used tire stores or even salvage yards. It takes more shopping time, but I bought a near new set of Michelin truck tires once for $50.00 for all four, MOUNTED!|||If you talking bicycle $19.00 is a good price but for a car it is not even enough for a low end tire. If you value your life on the highway by a better tire. It should be around $40.00.
