I bought some Bell Anti-Flat tubes for my 24" mountain bike. After reading around on a bunch of forums, I discovered these are pretty hated and most people like Slime tire sealant.
I'd rather not get messy, so I figured the tubes would be better. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any of these at my local bike shop. They sold me Mr. Tuffy bike tubes. Anyone have any luck with these? Can I do a combo of Mr Tuffy tubes and Slime sealant maybe? Or is that pointless?

Stick with what your bike shop told you - Mr. Tuffy liners or tubes. That slime tire sealant does NOT work - it smells - it may throw the tire off-balance - and most importantly - it VOIDS any tire or tube warranty.

There is no way to completely eliminate flats. Mountain bikes with 24" wheels don't give you a wide choice in tires, 26" is by far the most common wheel size for mountain bikes. Because of that, most of the tires you will find won't be any better that what was on the bike when you bought it. Tire liners might help, but one of the biggest causes of flats in low tire pressure which results in a lot of pinch flats. If you keep your tires at their ideal pressure you will eliminate a bout half of your flats. Even tire liners and heavy duty tubes won't prevent pinch flats.How do you prevent flats on your mountain bike? Mr Tuffy, Slime, Combo of both?
The best way to avoid flats is to buy good tires w/puncture protection. Look for Kevlar casing (not Bead as that is the part of the tire inside the rim). I've not punctured anything from Schwalbe, and Panaracer is also a good choice. Others are Continental, WTB, and Maxxis.
